Hazel Reaves Spencer

Mrs. Hazel Reaves Spencer of Cluster Springs, Virginia died Sunday, October 28, 2012 at The Woodview. She was born in Halifax County, Virginia June 30, 1921 and was 91 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Jessie Finch Reaves and Virgie Garrett Reaves and was preceded in death by her husband Howard Elmo Spencer. Mrs. Spencer was a long time member of Black Walnut Baptist church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a retired employee of Leggett Department Store. Mrs. Hazel Reaves Spencer is survived by: One Daughter: Brenda S. McPeters of Scottsburg One Son: Harold Spencer of South Boston Two Grandchildren: Amy Carson Natalie Torrence Two Step-Grandsons: Cory & Kevin McPeters Four Great-Grandsons: Griffin & Isaac Carson Preston Seamon Lleyton Burkholder Five Sisters: Gladys Simmons, Mary Irby, Peggy Barker, Joyce Moore & Hilda Thomas ***She was preceded in death by: Two Sisters: Virginia Reaves Reeves & Frenchie Reaves Lewis Two Brothers: Ernest & Willie Reaves Funeral Services for Mrs. Hazel Reaves Spencer will be held at Black Walnut Baptist Church , Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 2:00 P. M. with the Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
