Sterling Edmunds, a lifelong resident of Halifax County, died surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. He was the son of Paul Carrington Edmunds, Sr. and Louise Bouldin Edmunds. He is survived by his wife of fifty five years, Ann Chesley Edmunds and his three children Sterling Edmunds, Jr. (Nancy), Ann Tyler Allen (Roy) and Paul Carrington Edmunds, II and( Deborah) all of Richmond. He was most proud and found great joy in his seven granddaughters, Chesley Edmunds, Cabell Edmunds, Paige Edmunds, Carter Allen, Meg Allen, Grace Edmunds and Bobbie Edmund all of Richmond. He is also survived by his nephew James Easley Edmunds, II of Halifax. He was preceded in death by his brother Paul Carrington Edmunds, Jr. He is also survived by his faithful friend, Ned, his beloved Welsh Terrier. Sterling attended Penn State and graduated from North Carolina State University. After college he joined his father in the family ice cream and dairy business, Blue Ribbon Creamery. Later he operated distributorships for Sealtest and Flavor-Rich. Sterling was an avid golfer and gun enthusiast, who also looked forward to going on rides on his motorcycle. Raising, training and showing Tennessee Walking horses were a loved hobby. He was a lover of nature and all animals, and visiting his cabin on Buggs Island Lake. Music was a passion and he enjoyed supporting the Prizery in South Boston. He loved his hometown and was happy taking weekly drives through the county. Sterling set a strong example of his extraordinary faith and discipline much to the admiration of his family and friends. Inspired by his strong Christian values, he dedicated his life to quietly helping the needy. A 1:00 funeral will be held on Friday, July 20 at First Presbyterian Church in South Boston. Interment will follow at St. John's Episcopal Church in Halifax. The family will receive friends following the burial at his home, 1030 Mountain Road, Halifax, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Faison School for Autism (1701 Byrd Avenue, Richmond, VA 23230), First Presbyterian Church (800 N.
