Cyrus Wade Shortt

Mr. Cyrus Wade Shortt of Halifax died Monday, March 26, 2012, at Meadowview Terrace in Clarksville. 

Mr. Shortt was born May 15, 1934 in Pittsylvania County and was 77 years old. He was the son of the late Cyrus Gover Shortt and the late Mary Moon Shortt and married to Katherine “Kitty” Slayton Shortt, who survives. He was a member of Beth Car Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife of Halifax, survivors include two sons, Michael Wade Shortt and wife Kathryn Murphy of Charlotte, N.C., and Cyrus William “Bill” Shortt of South Boston; two grandchildren, Andrew Michael Shortt and wife Cassandra, and Matthew Wells Shortt, all of Charlotte. One grandson, Daniel Scott Shortt, preceded Mr. Shortt in death.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 30, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Beth Car Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Michael Parnell officiating.
