Clinton Clyde "CC" Burton Mr. Clinton Clyde "CC" Burton of Scottsburg went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2011 at the age of 91 at Berry Hill Health and Rehab. He was born on February 1st, 1920 in Halifax County, Virginia to the late Vennie Granger Burton and Jim Burton. He graduated from Scottsburg High School and was a member of the Winns Creek Baptist Church, Halifax. He was a self-employed farmer, worked at Boston Lumber and B. J. Jennings Construction until he started his own construction company CC Burton Construction Company and also farmed until he retired. He was a member of the South Boston Shriners and also the Crystal Hill Masonic Lodge. He was also a devote Christian and served as a deacon of Winns Creek Baptist Church for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He received many awards, having received the award of merit from the Goodyear/NACD, Conservation award for his outstanding accomplishments in Resource Conservation in 1991. He also received the Outstanding Cooperator in 1991 for his outstanding accomplishments in Conservation of soil, water and related resources presented by the Halifax County Soil and Water Conservation District. Another award he received was for his years of service as chairman and co-chairman of the South Boston football fundraiser and for his dedication and devotion to the Crippled Children's Hospital. He received an award for outstanding leadership dedication to the Shriner's Hospital for children and to the South Boston Shriners Club. He was married to Miriam White Burton, who survives and would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary, December 2nd. He endured many obstacles in his life and overcame all of them with a smile on his face.
