Marie Kisner Seat

Marie Kisner Seat of Asheville, NC, and formerly of Virgilina, VA, died September 24, 2010 at the WNC Baptist Home at tha age of 102. Marie was born in Durbin, WVA September 22, 1908 and was the second child of Elmer Kisner and Martha Ellen Campbell Kisner. She lived in Durbin for eight years and then moved to Elkins, WVA where she lived until 1948. She graduated from Elkins High School and Davis and Elkins College becoming and elementary education teacher, which she performed with great passion. The classroom was her "Garden of Eden". She taught in school systems in West Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia. She retired in 1972 from being a fourth grade teacher at C.H. Friend Elementary School in South Boston, VA. On May 31, 1947, she married Arthur Russell Seat Jr. of Virgilina, VA, who preceded her in death.
