Jessie James Moore

Mr. Jessie James "Jimmy" Moore passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010 at his home in Alton, Virginia. He was born in Halifax County, Virginia on June 29, 1929 and was 81 years old. He was the son of the late Charlie Cleveland Moore and the late Ruby Pruett Moore and married to June Walker Moore who survives. He was a member and deacon of the Alton Baptist Church and a retired truck driver for Dominion Virginia Power for 41 years. He was a former school bus driver for Halifax County Public Schools and was a coach and player for many teams in Halifax County. He also played a few years of semi-pro baseball and in 1956 he was awarded the N.C. State All Star catcher.
