Benjamin Howard Murphy, Sr.

Mr. Benjamin Howard Murphy Sr. Passed away at home on February 16 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in LaPlata, Maryland on October 10, 1962, to the late John William Nathan Murphy and Nancy Lee Shaw Murphy. Benjamin graduated in 1980 from Maurice J McDonough High in Pomfret MD. Benjamin was a jack of all trades and loved learning new things. His past jobs include working at W&W Fabrication and Southern Maryland Electric Company. Mr. Murphy started his own company Murphy Drafting & Design in 2000 and had 44 years of experience in structural steel detailing. Benjamin married Donna Twigg on September 24, 1983, at Christ Old Durham Church in Ironsides, Maryland. He accepted Christ as his savior in 1995 and loved reading his Bible and prophecy news. He had a passion for golfing, working on cars, and home remodeling. He also enjoyed building and flying radio-controlled airplanes, whether from kits or his own 3D-printed designs. Above all, he cherished the time spent playing with his grandchildren, chasing them around, and watching them grow.

 He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 42 years, his loving daughters Ami Leigh Murphy (Tylor Redman) and Amanda Nicole Murphy Simpson (Jason Simpson), his son Benjamin Howard Murphy Jr., and his daughter Georgia Skylor Medeiros. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Lyla Mae, Karlee Marion, Luca Romane, and Phoenix Benjamin, who were so dearly loved, along with many nieces and nephews.
