Bessie Talley Gravitt

Bessie Talley Gravitt of South Boston, VA peacefully passed away April 10, 2025 at the blessed of 93. She was born in Halifax County on November 27, 1931 to the late Benjamin Cole Talley and the late Lizzie Conner Talley. She was married to the late Hustler Hobson Gravitt.

Bessie was a member of Shady Grove United methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and taking care of her family, which was her greatest joy.

Bessie is survived by her children, Mitzi Lee Gravitt and Joel Patrick Gravitt; five grandchildren, Matthew Gravitt, Shawn Gravitt, Nicholas Hunt, Carrie Wheeler, and Charity Chung; six great grandchildren, Addisyn Wheeler, Landon Wheeler, Taggart Chung, Ambrose Chung, Camdyn Chung and Brighton Chung. She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Lawter.

She was preceded by two children, Dennis R. Gravitt and Paul M. Gravitt.

A graveside service will be held Monday, April 14, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with Mitch Conner officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
