Beulah Puryear Crenshaw

Mrs. Beulah Puryear Crenshaw of South Boston, VA passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital.  She was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on January 10, 1929 and was 91 years old.  She was the daughter of the late Howard Puryear and the late Mary Elizabeth Wilkerson Puryear and was married for 51 years to the late Herman R. Crenshaw. 

She was a member of Ash Avenue Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and Bible School Volunteer. She was also active with Good Samaritan and the local chapter of the American Red Cross. She was a former employee of Tultex.

Rodger Lee Crenshaw and wife Teresa of Cluster Springs
Six grandchildren
Eleven great grandchildren
Two great-great grandchildren

Bessie Moore of South Boston
Pearl Hudson of South Boston
One daughter-in-law
Deborah Crenshaw of Sutherlin

She was preceded in death by two sons, Randy Thomas Crenshaw and Robin Jay Crenshaw, by a grandson, Keith Watts, and by siblings Addie G. Rogers, Larvester Puryear, Augusta Puryear, Mary Puryear, Howard “Junior” Puryear,  and Corrie Moore.

A graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 3:30 PM  with Rev. Tim Mull officiating.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.  Amid COVID 19 concerns, it is asked that masks be worn and social distancing observed.
