Mr. Charlie Bailey Conner of South Boston, VA passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at his home. He was born in Halifax County, VA on May 9, 1936 and was 82 years old. He was the son of the late Lewis Nelson Conner and the late Rena Lacks Conner and was married to the late Barbara Vaughan Conner for over 59 years. He was a former employee of Burlington Industries, Dan River Mills, and Enterprise Car Rentals. He loved NASCAR and was a constant fixture at the South Boston Speedway. He had quite a “green thumb” for gardening and was quite good at making yard ornaments in his woodworking shop. He was quite the collector, hitting up many yard sales and flea markets. Travel with his family was important and he alternated family vacations between the beach and the mountains so as to please everyone.
