Christopher “Chris” K. Ratcliff, 58, of Danville, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021. He was born in Danville on October 10, 1962, the son of the late Donald B. Ratcliff and the late Polly Adams Ratcliff. He was a member of Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church during his youth, but joined Black Walnut Baptist Church in Cluster Springs in his early 20s.
Mr. Ratcliff attended Halifax Academy and was graduated from Halifax County High School. He received Associate Degrees in Business Administration and Business Management from Danville Community College. His passion was hunting and fishing, and he often participated in local and national hunts planned for disabled men and women. He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Wheelin’ Sportmen.
He is survived by a sister, Donna R. Strange (Ned) of Alton, and a brother, Don T. Ratcliff (Millie) of Sebastian, Florida; aunts Sallie A. McBride of Chicago, Ill and Carol A. Foster (Mark) of South Boston; nieces, nephews and devoted friends Tuffy and David Shorter of Danville.
A private burial of his ashes will be held at Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church, Black Walnut Baptist Church or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Services, South Boston.
