Deanna Jean Talley-Ronsholdt, Ph.D.

(née Talley) Deanna passed away on June 18, 2024. She was born on August 23, 1945, in Creedmoor, NC. The daughter of the late Oscar R. and Gertrude L. Talley (née Goad). 

She graduated in 1963 from Halifax County High School in South Boston, VA, and received a B.S. degree with majors in both biology and chemistry from Longwood College in Farmville, VA, in 1967. In 1972, she was awarded a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry and nutrition from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA. Afterward, she completed postdoctoral studies at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before joining the faculty in 1977 at Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, WI. 

She is survived by her husband of many years, George A. Ronsholdt of Milwaukee, WI, her sister, Wanda Talbott of South Boston, VA, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty L. Talley, and Doris Davis.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on July 24, 2024 at 5:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home.
