Doris Anne Nelson

Doris C. (Dot) Nelson of South Boston, VA passed away May 7, 2020.  She was born in Halifax County, VA on September 23, 1930 and was 89 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Newton Jefferson Cassada and the late Ella Oakes Cassada. She was married to the late Thomas Pool (T.P.) Nelson.

 

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where she was one of the founders of the FBC Weekday School.  She taught school in the Halifax County Public School System. Doris Anne will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

A private graveside service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Susan Davis and Rev. Garrett Bowman officiating. In keeping with CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19, the funeral service will be livestreamed via Powell Funeral Home’s Facebook page.

 

The family will receive friends at the home of Anne Garner and Greg Meeks, 1070 Brook Run Rd., Halifax, VA.
