Mr. Earl Thomas Conner, Sr. of Nathalie, VA passed away in Lynchburg, VA on Friday, October 8, 2021. He was born in Halifax County on April 3, 1934 and was 87 years old. He was the son of the late Willis Thomas Conner and the late Minnie Wilborne Conner and was married to Jean Barker Conner who survives. He was a member and former Deacon of Hunting Creek Baptist Church and was a retired Deputy Sheriff with the Halifax County Sheriffs’ Department serving for 33 years. He loved fishing and shooting, was especially fond of Wrestling and NASCAR racing. He loved visiting people and never went to bed without reading his Bible. Survivors include: His wife of 67 years Jean Barker Conner of the home One son Earl Thomas “E.T.” Conner Jr. and wife Deborah of Danville Two sisters Nancy Conner Owen of Scottsburg Betty Conner Saunders of Halifax One grandchild Earl Thomas “Tommy” Conner III and wife Jamie of Semora, NC Two great grandchildren Kenzie Merricks and Drake Zaher He was preceded in death by a son, James Willis Conner, by one sister, Hazel Conner Reid, and a special sister-in-law, Mary Ann Francisco. A graveside service will be held at Hunting Creek Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Robert Putt conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the church cemetery for one hour prior to the service and other times at his home.
