Edward Lanier Doss, Sr.

Mr. Edward Lanier Doss, Sr. of Clover, VA passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at his home.  He was born in Halifax County on December 14, 1933 and was 89 years old.  He was the son of the late William Ennis Doss Sr.  and the late Thelma Lanier Doss and was married for sixty-eight years to Mary Lois Younger Doss who survives.  He was the owner of Doss Well Drilling Company. He was a Veteran of the US Army  and the National Guard. He was a member of Dan River Baptist Church. He was a former member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was also a former member of the Lions Club, the Ruritan Club and the Woodmen of the World.  His passion was for the outdoors and he loved spending time farming and raising his cows.  He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

Four grandchildren
Lauren Elizabeth Spencer, Alyssa Lanier Spencer, Kayla Nicole Spencer, and Colt Lanier Doss
Numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by siblings Rebecca D. Saunders and Henry C. Doss

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Dan River Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. John Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military
Rites.

The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 7-8:30 PM and other times at his home.
