Elizabeth Whitlow Owen

Mrs. Elizabeth W. Owen of Halifax, VA passed away Friday, April 24, 2020 at her home. She was born May 23, 1926 in Halifax County, VA and was 93 years old. She was the daughter of the late George Henry Whitlow and the late Hermeon Harris Whitlow and was married to the late Clifford Thomas Owen, Sr. She was a member of the Oak Level Presbyterian Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School. She loved playing with her grandchildren, antiquing and shopping. Mrs. Elizabeth W. Owen is survived by: Two Daughters Mary Owen Winall of Danville, VA Ann Owen Thomas of Halifax, VA Two Sons C. Thomas Owen, Jr. and wife Marsha of South Boston W. Henry Owen and wife Sherry of Vernon Hill, VA Six Grandchildren Katie W. Barnett (Charles), Nathan Thomas, Miles Thomas, Ben Owen, Zach Owen, and Beth Thomas. Four great grandchildren Callie Dahm, Ashton Barnett, Ellie Owen, and Conner Barnett. Special friends Carolyn and Jobina Crews Preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Popek and Rosa Chaney Private graveside services will be held at the Oak Level Presbyterian Church Cemetery Monday, April 27, 2020 at 2:00 PM In keeping with the CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19, funeral services for Mrs. Owen will be available via live stream on Powell Funeral Home’s Facebook page. The family will receive friends at her home, 2066 Oak Level Road, Halifax, VA.
