Emily Atkins Ray

Emily Atkins Ray of South Boston, VA passed away July 16, 2024 at the age of 83. She was born in Pittsylvania County on December 2, 1940 to the late Andrew Atkins and the late Virginia McDowell Atkins. She was married to the late Scott Brann Ray for 45 years.

 Emily Atkins Ray was a member of Dan River Baptist Church. Emily retired from Halifax County Treasurers Office as a clerk after many years of dedicated service. She enjoyed doing her family’s genealogy, collecting stamps and especially spending time with her beloved family.

 A funeral service will be held Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Millstone with the Rev. Thad Decker officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

 The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at her home.
