Frances (Frankie) R. Whittaker, 90, of Halifax, VA, formerly of Macomb, IL and St. Peters, MO, died July 12, 2024. She was born in 1934 to the late Grace and Floyd Russell of Macomb, IL. She was married to the late Alan C. Whittaker.

 In addition to her parents and spouse, Mrs. Whittaker was predeceased by two sisters, Martha Russell Chamberlain and Rosalie Russell Hampton. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Randall (Bryan), of Halifax, Virginia; two stepsons, Tom Whittaker (Cia) and Ted Whittaker of St. Louis; seven grandchildren, Shelby Boughner (Aaron) of Midlothian, Virginia, Corey Randall of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Haley Taylor (Max) of Richmond, Virginia, Sarah Whittaker Long (Rhett) of Austin, Texas, Tom B. Whittaker (Hannah), Sydney Whittaker and Ian Whittaker, all of St. Louis area; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved cousins.

 Mrs. Whittaker had a lengthy career as an executive assistant with the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA). Following her retirement, she worked part-time for the City of Maryland Heights Police Department. She later moved to Richmond, Virginia.

She had a passion for dogs, and in addition to having many of her own as pets, she volunteered at the Richmond Animal League. Known as being both feisty and funny by many she was acquainted with, Mrs. Whittaker played a mean game of Scrabble, and loved daily crossword puzzles. She was devoted to her grandchildren, testing out numerous cookie recipes and attending swim meets, soccer matches and Rams football camps.

 A private service and burial will take place at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.

 Local funeral arrangements were handled by Powell Funeral Home of South Boston, Virginia.
