Frank Kimbrough (Kim) Bradshaw, Jr., beloved brother and uncle, departed this life on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at his home on Irish Street. His family was at his bedside. He was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in December, 2019.
Kim was born on December 22, 1950, in Richmond. He was the son of the late Frank Kimbrough Bradshaw and the late Dorothy White Bradshaw. He is survived by his sister, Brenda Fincher, his brother-in-law, Ben Fincher, nephews Frank, Ben (Jolene), and Will (Michaela) Fincher, niece Susan (Lexi) Fincher, and great-nieces Megan, Elizabeth, Dorothy, and Beatrice Fincher.
Kim was a respected nurse at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, where he worked in the ICU, and prior to that at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond. He graduated from UNC-G with a degree in biology.
His interests and competencies were wide-ranging. He was an avid surf fisherman who once caught an eight-foot tiger shark off the Hatteras coast. He loved racing his Volvo at VIR, was knowledgeable about and had great appreciation for wildlife, treasured his collection of 70s and 80s rock music, had excellent carpentry and construction design skills, and was a talented photographer and a history buff. He was indeed the family polymath. His culinary specialty was tobacco barn-style chicken bar-be-que, which has been enjoyed by so many South Boston friends. He provided exciting trips, activities, and thoughtful, generous gifts for his nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Kim’s life will be planned for a later date. The family is grateful to Sentara Halifax Hospice for the wonderful comfort and care given to all of us.
