Mrs. Freeda Harman Akers of Halifax, VA passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in Midlothian, VA. She was born December 6, 1926 in Willis, VA and was 95 1/2 years old. She was the daughter of the late Cornelius C. Harman and the late Minnie Etta Weddle Harman and was married to the late William “Bill” Akers.
She was a member of Halifax United Methodist Church and a long term educator with the Halifax and Floyd County Public School Systems with 40 years of service. She was a graduate of Radford College with a bachelor degree and a master’s degree from Lynchburg University.

Neal Howard Akers and wife Carey of Midlothian, VA
Two Grandchildren
Ashley Thompson and husband Mark of Midlothian, VA
Will Akers and wife Sonia of Midlothian, VA
Three Great Grandchildren

Memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thad Decker officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home.
