George Thomas McVay

Mr. George Thomas McVay of Scottsburg, VA passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021. He was born in Washington, DC on March 21, 1927 and was 94 years old. He was the son of the late George Aloysius McVay and the late Catherine Agnes Shanahan McVay and was married to the late Shirley Musser McVay. He was a member of St. Paschals Catholic Church and was a retired US Navy Veteran having served his country for 22 years of active service. During his service and was involved in 3 wars, World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam Conflict. Survivors include: His children Sherry Lopez of Tuscon, AZ Sharon Price of Bunker Hill, WVA Timothy McVay of Quantico, VA Thomas McVay of Scottsburg, VA 15 grandchildren 38 great grandchildren 10 great great grandchildren with 3 more on the way He was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Christopher McVay and Patrick Michael McVay, one daughter Cheryl Alexander, and one brother, James McVay. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paschals Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Father Richard Mooney officiating. A visitation will be held at Powell Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM.
