Gerald Tate Gilliam

Gerald Tate Gilliam of South Boston, VA passed away August 3, 2021.  He was born in Halifax County, VA on October 19, 1940 and was 80 years of age. He was the son of the late Robert Lee Gilliam and the late Louise Tate Gilliam

 

Gerald was a member of the South Boston-Halifax County Museum. He served on the Board of Directors in many different capacities including being a past president, the head of the Display Committee and the Research Committee. But, beyond official titles he was an all-around wealth of knowledge when it came to the history of Halifax County and surrounding counties. He also served on the Charlotte County Association of Preservation of Virginia Antiquities. Gerald had a passion for photography and many of his photographs are in the archives at the museum; from time to time, they are displayed and his artistry is shared. Gerald will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held August 18, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Susan Davis officiating. Burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends August 18, one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home.
