Gerald Layne McKinney

Gerald Layne McKinney of Halifax, VA passed away January 24, 2021.  He was born in Halifax County, VA on October 28, 1950 and was 70 years of age. He was the son of the late James Kelly McKinney and the late Louise Terry McKinney. He was married to Sharon Moore McKinney who survives.

He attended First Baptist Church and was a United States Army Veteran and served in Vietnam.  He was employed by Westinghouse, now ABB Small Transformers Division for 44 years. Gerald was a member of the American Legion Post 8, National Wild Turkey Federation and a lifetime member of the Jaycees. He was an avid hunter, and fisherman and was most at peace when on his farm.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Clinton McKinney, Cole McKinney, Rev. Susan Davis and Rev. Garrett Bowman officiating. In keeping with CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19, we recommend the wearing of face masks and practice social distancing.

The family will receive friends at his home.
