Mrs. Gladys Compton Thompson of South Boston, VA passed away on Tuesday, May 07, 2019 at Sentara Woodview.  She was born in Halifax County, VA on December 12, 1921 and was 97 years old.  She was the daughter of the late Beverly Lee Compton, Sr. and the late Leila Epps Compton and was married to the late John Thomas Thompson Sr. She was a member of Beth Car Baptist Church in Halifax.

Survivors include:
One son
John Thomas Thompson Jr. and wife Phyllis Newby Thompson of Atherton, CA

Grandchildren

Seth Thomas Thompson (Eryn) of Minneapolis, MN

Lauren Elizabeth Thompson of New York, NY

Corbin Rose Franklin (Tyler) of Chesterfield, VA

Sarah Nelson Thompson of Washington, DC

 

She was preceded in death by one son, Nelson Wayne Thompson; two sisters, Baker Compton Inge and Hilda Compton Farmer and by four brothers, Beverly Compton, Jr., Lewis Compton, Herman Compton, and Fulton Compton.

A funeral service will be held at Beth Car Baptist Church in Halifax on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Eldridge Cullum officiating.

A reception will follow the funeral service in the church Fellowship Hall.
