Grady Leon Vernon, Sr

Mr. Grady Leon Vernon Sr., 71, of Alton, VA, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, at his home. He was born on January 30,1953 in Halifax County, to the late William Irvin Vernon, Sr. and the late Mary Dickerson Vernon. Mr. Vernon was married for 52 years to Joan Ridgeway Vernon who survives. Grady was a member of Alton Baptist church. In his free time, he loved farming, cooking, and most of all spending time with his friends and family. He was known as a “wheel-man” who could make just about anything smoke. Grady will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2024, 11:00 AM at Alton Baptist Church with Rev. Vance Midgett officiating. The family will receive friends Monday night at Powell Funeral Home from 7:00-8:30 PM and other times at their home. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
