Harold Wayne Ferrell

Mr. Harold “Wayne” Ferrell of Vernon Hill, Virginia passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at age 79. A lifelong resident of Halifax County, he was born on July 24, 1945 to the late Harold Acre Ferrell and the late Frances “Elizabeth” Landrum Ferrell.

Wayne graduated from Halifax County High School and attended Danville Community College in Danville, Virginia. He worked at Daystrom Furniture before retiring from a 34-year career at Westinghouse (ABB) as a master draftsman. Wayne took up farming and became one of the largest local producers of tomatoes throughout the late 80s to mid 90s. An avid fan of aviation, Wayne held a pilot’s license and spent time flying his plane from his farm to local destinations and once to Nags Head, North Carolina. At any given time, he could be found plowing, planting, or harvesting with his tractor accompanied by his beloved dog Buddy or spending time with his lifelong best friend, the late John Blair “B” Kerns.
