Helen Hope Carpenter

Helen Hope Walker Carpenter, age 98 of Sparta, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at home.

 She was born January 12, 1921 in Halifax County, VA to the late Edgar Franklin Walker and Georgia Daniel Walker.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Merwin Carpenter, Sr.; one son, William Merwin Carpenter, Jr.; one daughter, Deborah Ann Carpenter; one brother, Frank Walker; and four sisters, Leora W. Shelton, Winona Walker, Mary Walker and Carol Walker. 

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Carol Carpenter of Sparta; one granddaughter, Chelesa Alexandra Carpenter of Salida, CO; one brother, Daniel Walker of Reidsville; several nieces and nephews also survive. 

The family requests the honor of your presence at the Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Hope at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Oak Ridge Cemetery, 128 Meadow Drive, South Boston, VA 24592.
