Jackie Porter Smoot

Mrs. Helen Porter “Jackie” Smoot of South Boston, VA passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.
She was born in South Boston on January 3, 1949 and was 73 years old.  She was the daughter of the late James W. Porter and the late Helen Coleman Phillips Porter and was married to Edward Lemuel Smoot, Jr. who survives. 

She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and was the former owner of the Creative Cake Shop. Jackie was well known for her volunteering and her giving spirit. She was involved in many organizations such the Humane Society, South Boston-Halifax Museum, made costumes for the Little Theater, Angel Gown Program, Jane Jones Food Pantry at Main Street UMC and many other acts of kindness. She will be remembered a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a dear friend.

A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Thad Decker conducting the service. The family will receive friends Saturday, at Powell Funeral Home, from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. and other times at the home of her daughter, 1060 Austin Acres Lane, Clover, VA.
