Ida Puryear Simmons

Ida Upton Puryear Simmons of South Boston, VA passed away July 29, 2021.  She was born in Halifax County, VA on May 30, 1932 and was 89 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Robert Louis Puryear and the late Robbie Upton Puryear. She was married to John Venable “Red” Simmons who survives.

She was a member of First Baptist Church where she kept the nursery, helped with Vacation Bible School and served on the Welcoming Committee. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Susan Davis and Rev. Garrett Bowman officiating. Burial to follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
