Inez Bennett Weaver

Mrs. Inez Bennett Weaver, 99, of The Sentara Woodview Nursing Home, South Boston, VA went to join her family in Heaven on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.  She was born in South Boston on May 12, 1921, daughter of the late Eward and Marion Bennett.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Weaver, Jr. and her two sisters, Arlene (George) Matzner of Pocomoke City, MD and Hazel (Herman) Skiles of Roanoke, VA.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Donald Bennett Weaver and Ginger of Halifax and Robert Weaver, Jr. and Laurie of Boynton Beach, Florida; four grandchildren, Jay (Rita) and Ashley Weaver (Shawn), Scott (Rachel) and Chris Weaver and six great-grandchildren:  Georgia, Jonah, and Johanna, Annabella, Hudson and Scarlett.  Her niece, Melissa Matzner Buchanan (Buzz) of Hilton Head Island, SC was truly devoted to her aunt with a special love and numerous visits over the years.  May God bless the caregivers at Boston Commons and Sentara Woodview for giving her such good care over the last twenty years.

She was retired from the Division of Motor Vehicles with 32 years of service.  For many of those years, she handled all of the DMV transactions for South Boston as well as the bookkeeping duties for Sizemore Appliance Co.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Boston and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and cooking for her loved ones.  She will always be remembered for her Christmas gatherings of family around a big table of food and Sunday dinners of fried chicken, garden-fresh butterbeans, creamed potatoes, home-made biscuits and the best ever banana pudding.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on July 4, 2020, at McKendree United Methodist Church.  Condolences can be sent to Don & Ginger Weaver, P.O. Box 338, Halifax, VA  24558.  Visitation will not be held due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
