James Everette "Maverick" Clayton

James Everette “Maverick” Clayton of Scottsburg, VA passed away January 30, 2019.  He was born in Person County, NC on January 7, 1931 and was 88 years of age. He was the son of the late James Dewey Clayton and the late Ida Bertha Turner Clayton. He was married for 59 years to Mary Alice Lloyd Clayton who survives.

He was a member of Winns Creek Baptist Church, and a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Winns Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Chambers and Rev. Jim Copco officiating. Burial to follow in church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home, 2087 Clays Mill School Road, Scottsburg, VA.
