James "J.C." Casey Young

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Casey Young.

 James Casey “JC” Young of Nathalie passed away on February 20, 2025 at the age of 31. He was born in Halifax County on March 1, 1993 to James Alvis Young and Shelia Jones who survive. 

JC was born with an autism spectrum disorder; however, he was one of the most affectionate people anyone could ever meet, and he never met a stranger. JC loved giving high fives and big hugs! He loved watching old westerns and especially the Dukes of Hazzard and spending time with his dog, who he gave treats to regularly and playing ball. 

 Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Shelia Jones; sisters, his twin sister Courtney Seate (Brian) of Camp LeJeune, NC, Carrie Young (Robert) of Virgilina; grandmother, Kathy Jones; aunts and uncle, Rhonda Waller (Ronnie), Barbara Anne Throckmorton, Craig Young (Ashley) and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. Also, he is survived by his beloved dog, Axel.

 JC was predeceased by grandparents, Frank Jones and Geraldine and James Young.

 A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Powell Funeral Home with the Rev. Thad Decker officiating. Burial to follow in Catawba Baptist Church Cemetery. 

 The family will receive friends on Monday, one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home of Carrie Young, 3086 Virgie Cole Road, Virgilina, VA or the home of Sheila Jones, 1025 Davis Road, Nathalie, VA.
