James “Jim” Ruffy Chandler of South Boston, Virginia passed away at the age of 90 on November 17th of 2022. He was born in Salisbury, North Carolina on September 23rd of 1932. He was the son of the late James Carlton Chandler and the late May Mauldin Chandler. He was married to Carolyn Grant Chandler who survives. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of Ash Avenue Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, audio-visual director, Sunday school president, teacher, and as an usher. Jim is a veteran who served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. Following his time spent in the United States Navy, he attended a television and radio training program and later became the general manager at WHLF radio station until his retirement. Jim attended the “coffee club” at Faulkner Lawson’s having a reserved stool where he sold radio advertisements. Jim will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
