Jill Annette Hatcher

Jill Annette Hatcher passed away on August 30, 2023, at the age of 65. She was born on April 26, 1958, in Norfolk, Virginia. Jill's passion for helping others led her to pursue a career as a social worker. She dedicated her life to making a difference in the lives of those she served and had an unwavering desire to help every single child she worked with.
 
Jill obtained a B.S. from Averette University, which provided her with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in her profession. Her education laid the foundation for her successful career as a social worker, enabling her to touch countless lives.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Jill also valued the importance of family. She is survived by her son Jeremy Hatcher, his wife Christy of Halifax and Jeremy’s son Jayden. Their love and support brought immense joy to Jill's life. She also leaves behind her sister Judith Hatcher Hogan of Pensacola, Florida; cousin-in-law, Glen Eccleston and wife Devon; special friends, Peggy Lacks and Doris Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who will cherish the memories they shared together.  Jill was preceded in death by her parents Samuel G. Hatcher and Verna Mae Henderson Hatcher and Jeremy’s father, Gregory Moon.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bonnie Pizzeck officiating.  Burial to follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, at Powell Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM.
