John Morgan Crews of Nathalie, VA passed away on the family centennial farm August 8, 2019. He was born in Halifax County, VA on November 18, 1929 and was 89 years of age. He was the son of the late Claude Spurgeon Crews and the late Virginia Levinia Irby Crews He was married to Jessie Mildred Ambrose Crews, who survives, for 66 years.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who came in touch with him.
He was in the National Guard, Mason for over 50 years, Tobacconist for 33 years with Export Leaf Tobacco Company. He worked at R.O. Harrell Trucking Company for 20 years and drove over one million miles without an accident. He was South Boston Speedway’s first Flagman, served on Halifax Heritage Festival Committee, Halifax Quarter Scale Tractor Pull. He was a self-taught craftsman, “Jack of All Trades”, Farmer who loved fishing, beach, lake and boats.
