John Wayne Irby

John Wayne Irby of Clover, VA passed away January 10, 2021, the 62^nd wedding anniversary of his marriage to Rebecca “Becky” Conner Irby.  He was born in Halifax County, VA on November 24, 1939 and was 81 years of age. He was the son of the late James Clarence Irby and the late Elizabeth Walker Irby.

He was an active member of Mt. Laurel United Methodist Church.  John Wayne was a founding member of Mt. Laurel Ruritan Club, former member of Clover Lions Club, active community member and was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and bowler. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Mt. Laurel United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Don Pizzeck and Rev. David Barker officiating. In keeping with CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19, we recommend the wearing of face masks and social distancing. The funeral service will be livestream via Powell Funeral Home’s Facebook page.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
