Joyce E. Buckner

Joyce E. Buckner went home peacefully to her heavenly father on July 16, 2024. Born on January 28, 1945 to the late Shirley L. Buckner and the late George M. Buckner.

Joyce was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She was well known in the retail business throughout her life, working at Leggett’s and Goodwill downtown South Boston, McCollum-Ferrell Shoe Store and Via’s Jewelry Store. She loved spending time with long-time friends Leslie and James Hazelwood and Arvin and Janice Wynn. She would like to thank friends Dee and Mike Smith for taking such special care of her these past several years.

In true Joyce fashion, she wrote her own obituary four months before her passing, she did not want the task to fall on anyone’s shoulders. She will be remembered in love by all who knew her.

Joyce is survived by her brother, Gerald Buckner (Judy) of Madison, NC and a host of Nieces and Nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Calvary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cathy Roach officiating.
