Joyce Strong, faithful wife, and loving mother to three children, passed away at age 88. She was born on December 30, 1931, in the town of Robersonville, North Carolina to Charles Johnson and Virginia Bailey. She and her first husband, Charles Eddinger, raised three children, Teresa, Stephen, and Gregory.
Joyce relocated to California in her youth. There she breezed through school, skipped two grades, and graduated at the age of 16. Musically inclined, she often composed and played piano during her high school years.
Young Joyce loved to crunch numbers and entered the banking field. Known for her quick wit and amazing memory, her teller line often extended to the door. In time, she created manuals for the PBX tabulation machines. During her first college year, she was offered a position as the bank manager.
Always thinking of the needs of those less fortunate, Joyce “adopted” needy families and personally delivered food and clothing when needed. A patriot, she supported our troops in prayer and with donations.
Joyce is remembered for many great characteristics, but mostly for her compassionate heart, delightful sense of humor, and passion for music.
She is reunited with her fishing partner for life, Ernest Strong. She is preceded by her parents, brother, and son, Stephen. She is survived by her two children, Gregory and Teresa, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A private family memorial is planned at her Halifax home. Condolences may be mailed to the Noss family at 1232 Swain Road, Halifax, VA 24558. In lieu of flowers or donations, please contribute to your charity of choice.
