Juanita Wilkerson Smiley

Mrs. Juanita Wilkerson Smiley of South Boston, VA passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022. She was born December 1,1929 in Halifax County, VA and was 92 years old. She was the daughter of the late Troy Hannable Wilkerson and the late Eddie Catherine Owen Wilkerson and was married to the late John Clifton “Click” Smiley. She was a member of the Scottsburg United Methodist Church where she was choir director for many years and was president of the United Methodist Women for many years. She worked at Burlington Industries for 48 years. She had been a resident at Commonwealth Assisted Living for the last 7 years. Juanita loved the staff and residents of the facility. Mrs. Juanita Wilkerson Smiley is survived by: One Sister Janice W. Irby Snead of Halifax One Brother Don Wilkerson and wife Betty of Halifax One sister-in-law Marion Wilkerson of South Boston Nieces and Nephews Todd Irby, Donnie Wilkerson, and Michael Wilkerson, all of Halifax County and one niece, Kim Irby Dorsey of Lexington Park, MD She was preceded in death by a brother, Troy M. Wilkerson, brothers-in-law, Ray Irby and Everette Snead, and a niece, Brenda Wilkerson Savage. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 14,2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev., Kerry Halbert officiating. Burial will follow at the Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service.
