June Elizabeth Clardy Vaughan widow of James S. Vaughan found solace in the arms of her Lord and Savior Thursday, August 12, 2021. She was born in Halifax County on June 4, 1937 and was 84 years old at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Richard W. Clardy and the late Nannie S. Clardy. She was married to the late James S. Vaughan for 49 years and was a member of Mountain Road Baptist Church.
In June’s early years she was a Practical Nurse of South Boston General Hospital before starting her family. She was a caregiver for many children over the years and always helped those in the community.
June was quiet, gentle soul who was known for her love of flowers, her good cooking but especially known for her sweet pickle, lemon meringue pie and potato salad. She prepared for more church luncheons than can be counted. She freely gave of her time to her family and was loved by all and most recently by her caring family at Commonwealth Senior Living, where she was affectionately known as “June Bug”. It has been a long good-bye but may you now rest in peace.
