Laura Lewis Millhiser

Laura Lewis Millhiser passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on August 3, 2022.   She was born in Halifax County on May 6, 1929 and was 93 years old.  She was the daughter of the late Virgie Satterfield and the late Linwood Earl Lewis Sr.  She was married to the late John Henry Millhiser.

Laura was one of eleven children and grew up on a farm in Oak Level.  She continued throughout her life to work hard as a tobacco farmer’s wife, where she worked and raised their 3 children.   Laura loved baseball and every year; she was watching the World Series on television.  Laura was a woman of great faith and a member of Arbor Baptist Church.  She will be remembered in love by all who knew her.

Laura Millhiser is survived by her two daughters Janet Gent of Denver, Colorado (native of Halifax County) and Dale Guill of Halifax County, her two grandchildren Angela Payne of Halifax County and Laura Felker of Denver, Colorado, and her 3 great grandchildren Taylor Ray Payne, Logan Gillespie and Elias Felker.  She was preceded in death by her son John Ray Millhiser. 

To honor Laura Millhiser, there will be a graveside service on Saturday, August 6 at 11:00 A.M. at Oak Level Presbyterian Cemetery with the Rev. Don Bryant officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday at the graveside immediately following the service.
