Mabel Joyce Perkins

Mabel Joyce P. Perkins of Halifax, VA passed away November 20, 2019.  She was born in Halifax County, VA on March 2, 1933 and was 86 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Ethel Emma Dunaway Perkins and the late Robert Perkins. She was married to the late Linwood “Pete” Landrum Perkins.

She loved her family. Her grandsons gave her so much joy as they grew up. They along with her great granddaughters, were the apple of her eye. She was always showing off their pictures.

Mabel enjoyed going to the libraries and was a voracious reader. Being a member of Beth Car, she and two other friends always sat together in “their seats”. She always enjoyed the fellowship and the love they showed her.

After 46 years of service with Burlington Industries, Mabel started going to the “Y” and enjoyed the chair exercises and socializing with her friends there. Upon leaving the “Y”, she headed straight to Wendy’s to meet her sisters for lunch and more socializing. She and her husband enjoyed dancing and music when they were young. In her later years she loved to dance at the VFW and Watts’ where once again, she enjoyed socializing with her friends. She never met a stranger.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Eldridge Cullum and Rev. Kermit Evans officiating. Burial to follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Saturday, one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 1021 Falkland Rd., Scottsburg, VA.
