Mattie Snead Throckmorton

Mrs. Mattie Snead Throckmorton of Clover, VA passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the Woodview Nursing Home. She was born January 10, 1921 in Halifax County, VA and was 99 years old. She was the daughter of the late Jack Holcolm Snead and the late Pearl Crenshaw Snead and was married to the late Carroll Coleman Throckmorton. Mattie was a longtime member of Clover Baptist Church where she served on the flower and kitchen committees. Mattie loved her family and adored her grandson, Shawn, who always made her smile whenever he visited or entertained at her “special” birthday parties. She loved all her friends who visited weekly at the Woodview, and it brought her much joy. Many thanks to CNA Inez Lacks for her care and devotion during Mattie’s stay at the Woodview. Browder of Dolphin, VA ***Preceded in death by*** Three sisters, Macie Blackstock, Pauline Crews and Rosa Vassar Three Brothers, Hampton Snead, Charlie “Scrummy” Snead and John Henry Snead Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Clover Cemetery with the Rev. Shawn Allen and Rev. Aubrey Heath officiating. In keeping with CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19, wearing masks and social distancing are suggested.
