Otis Branford Slate, Sr.

Otis Branford Slate, Sr. of South Boston, VA passed away May 23, 2023.  He was born in Halifax County, VA on October 28, 1938 and was 84 years of age.  He was the son of the late Henry Ivie Slate and the late Sally Satterfield Slate.  He was married to the late Doris Overby Slate.

He was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church.  Otis served in the United States Army National Guard. He was a retired truck driver for Estes.  Otis will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Pleasant Grove Christian Church with the Rev. Isaac Mooneyham and the Rev. Harvey Spencer officiating. Burial to follow in church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home.
