Ralph Eugene “Gene” Haugh, Jr. of Halifax, VA passed away September 13, 2022. He was born in Richmond, VA on September 17, 1947 and was 74 years of age. He was the son of the late Rev. Ralph Eugene Haugh, Sr. and the late Margaret Shelton Haugh. He was married to Cynthia Owen Haugh who survives.
He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for over 50 years and served on numerous committees even most recently the Mission Team for this year. Gene worked with J.P. Stevens, then for ABB in Human Resources. He later retired from JPS as Department Manager and after retirement he worked for Slayton Construction Company. He volunteered with the Tri-County Habitat for Humanity and helped complete 13 homes. He was also Past President of South Boston Destination Downtown, active in the development and construction of the Prizery and the Little Theater stage sets. Gene also served in the Virginia Army National Guard.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at Main Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thad Decker officiating. Burial to follow in Town of Halifax Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home.
