Ray Turner, Jr. of Halifax, VA passed away July 21, 2020. He was born in Ahoskie, NC on December 17, 1938 and was 81 years of age. He was the son of the late Ray Turner, Sr. and the late Ruth Clary Turner. He was married to “Lynn” Barrett Turner who survives.
He was an active member of Main Street United Methodist Church where he served with the Methodist Men. Ray retired from Nationwide Insurance after 31 years. Upon his retirement he began serving his community by volunteering at the South Boston-Halifax County Museum, and Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. He was also a member of Dan River Ruritan Club and American Legion Post 8 Honor Guard. He and Lynn loved to travel and Square Dance in their spare time. Ray will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobbie Henley and Rev. Sylvester Crawley officiating. Burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Due to the concerns over COVID-19 and with the health and wellness of everyone in mind, we request that everyone attending please wear a mask.
