Richard Omar "Ricky" Brown, Sr.

Richard Omar “Ricky” Brown Sr. of Halifax, VA, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born in Halifax County, VA, on February 23, 1946, to the late Richard Thorton “Doc” Brown and the late Ellen Davis Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Linda Brown, and will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love for his family was the heart of his life.

A lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church, Ricky lived with a deep sense of faith, compassion, and purpose. He worked at ABB for 43 years, where he was admired for his dedication, integrity, and strong work ethic.

Ricky was a man who truly treasured his family. His joy came from the simple things: laughing with loved ones, sharing words of encouragement, and being a steady, loving presence. He had a passion for woodworking and could often be found in his workshop building birdhouses, crafting furniture, or restoring something old with great care. His handiwork lives on in the homes of friends and neighbors — a lasting reminder of his creativity and craftsmanship. He also loved riding his bicycle and staying active, always with a smile that could light up a room.

Known for his contagious smile and ever-joyful spirit, Ricky brought warmth and kindness to all who knew him. His legacy is one of love, joy, and the kind of quiet strength that endures in the hearts of those he touched.

A funeral service will be held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel Thursday, May 1, 2025, 2:00 PM with Rev. Russell Terry and Rev. Thad Decker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at his home. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
