Richard "Ricky" Williams Bates, Sr.

Richard Williams “Ricky” Bates, Sr. of Vernon Hill, VA passed away November 28, 2021.  He was born in Halifax County, VA on December 4, 1959 and was 61 years of age. He was the son of Geneva W. Bates and the late Charles Albert Bates, III.

He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Ricky also was an Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts of America and was a former member of the Oak Level Volunteer Fire Department.

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11:00 A.M.  at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Hanson officiating. Burial to follow in church cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at his home.
