Mrs. Ruth Poole Ragans of South Boston, VA passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019.  She was born in Halifax County July 19, 1933 and was 86 years old.  She was the daughter of the late Stephen Poole and Lillie  Poole and was married to the late Clyde Thomas Ragans. She was a highly dedicated member of Black Walnut Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Woodmen of the World. She spent much of her life helping her husband with his electrical business and loved gardening. She was a great supporter of many local civic endeavors. She is survived by:One daughterBettie R. Lowery and husband Sonny Lowery of South Boston, VAFour grandchildrenDr. Christy Lowery-Carter and husband Stephen Carter of South Boston, VAJan  Campbell and husband James Campbell of Whispering Pines, NCDr. Lindsay Arthur and husband Dr. Jason Arthur of Little Rock, ARJessica Sotosky and husband Dr. Jon Sotosky of Norfolk, VAOne great grandchildRiley Carter of South Boston, VAOne son-in-lawRichard Cadorette of Chesapeake, VA** She was preceded in death by her daughter, Phyllis Cadorette, her sisters Delcie Cole, Gladys Lowery, Elizabeth Ratliff, and Gertrude Bishop and brothers Truiett Poole, John Poole, and Melvin Poole.A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Black Walnut Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating.
