Joan Wicks Rowles

Joan Wicks Rowles of Rustburg, VA passed away June 9, 2024 at the age of 82.  She was born in Providence, RI on June 21, 1941 to the late James Frank Wicks and the late Winiferd Causer Wicks.  She was married to Carrell Clarence Rowles, Jr. who survives.

She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.  Joan was a graduate of James Madison University where she received her BA in education.  She taught at Brookville High School in Lynchburg and was secretary to the Director of the Governor’s School.  Joan enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach, Williamsburg, traveling by train, and visiting antique malls.  She was a tour guide at Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest for 30 years.
